Jesus Gets Us: Temptation
June 16, 2024 Speaker: Jay Pound Series: Jesus Gets Us
Scripture: Matthew 4:1–11
What can we learn about temptation from Jesus’ experience in the wilderness?
Being tempted is not a sin! (Mt. 4; Heb. 4.15)
- When you are struggling with temptation, find some trustworthy friends and ask them for help (Mt. 26.36-38)
Whenever possible, flee or avoid temptation (Mt. 6.13, 26.40-41)
When you cannot flee, fix your eyes firmly on the truth (4.4, 7, 10)
After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. (Mt. 4.2)
Temptation is unavoidable, but faithfulness is possible.
Flee temptation whenever you can, but when you can’t, ask for help from God and others, and keep your eyes fixed firmly on the truth.
