"Holy Spirit: The One Who Transforms" Small Group Questions

Opening:

What grows in your garden without help? With your help?

Review Pastor Joel's sermon and Take Home Idea. What struck you about the sermon?

What do you have questions about?

Dig: Read Galatians 5:16-25

What does Paul mean by “walking by the Spirit” (vs. 16), “led by the Spirit” (vs. 18), “live by the Spirit” (vs. 25) and “keep in step with the Spirit” (vs. 25)? Similarities?

Differences?

Since we are made alive by the Spirit, why do we still struggle with sin?

Pastor Joel in his sermon said that one of the reasons we need to walk by the Spirit is because the demands of being a Christian are so great. Look up his list of scriptures (in his sermon outline). Do you agree or not with his reason?

How does Paul describe the relationship between the flesh and the Spirit? What does Paul mean by the terms “flesh” and Spirit? Which does Paul indicate is stronger? Which does he indicate seems to win (vs. 17)?

A Christian friend of yours gets drunk one night, happens to read 5:21 the following morning and concludes that he has lost his salvation. How would you help him/her?

How do you grow spiritual fruit?

What does it practically mean to “crucify the flesh with its passions and desires.”

Reflect:

Which spiritual fruit are “blossoming” for you? Which are in the “budding” stage?

How are you doing “catching the Wind” and “walking by the Spirit”? What suggestions do you have others in your group?

Close this time sharing and praying together as a group.
