As it is, there are many parts, but one body. The eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't need you!" And the head cannot say to the feet, "I don't need you!" On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable" I Cor. 12:20-22 (NIV)

Five Reasons We Need Each Other:

1) I Need Others to Walk with Me.

"Just as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him..." Col. 2:6-7 (ESV)

"Let us not give up the habit of meeting together… instead, let us encourage one another." Heb. 10:25a (TEV)

Community is God's answer to: Loneliness

"As each part does its work, it helps the other parts grow, so Christ's whole body is healthy and growing and full of love." Eph. 4:16 (NLT)

2) I Need Others to Work with Me.

"There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good." I Cor. 12:4-7 (NIV)

"Two people are better than one, because they get more done by working together." Eccl. 4:9 (NCV)

Community is God's answer to: Fatigue

"Every time we get the chance, let us work for the benefit of all, starting with the people closest to us in the community of faith." Gal. 6:10 (Mes)

3) I Need Others to Watch Out for Me.

"But God has combined the members of the body . . . so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other." I Cor. 12:24-25 (NIV)

"Look out for one another's interests, not just for your own." Phil. 2:4 (TEV)

"A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken." Eccl. 4:12 (NLT)

Community is God's answer to: Defeat

4) I Need Others to Wait and Weep with Me.

"If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it." 1 Cor. 12:26 (NIV)

"All of you live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble." 1 Peter 3:8 (NIV)

Community is God's answer to: Despair

5) I Need Others to Witness with Me.

"Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are My disciples." John 13:35 (NLT)

God's answer to fear: Community.

"...You are working together and struggling side by side to get others to believe the Good News." Phil. 1:27b (CEV)

Take Home Idea: We need each other. Do Not Attempt the Christian Journey Alone.

A Thought From God's Word:
And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. [1 John 5:11-13 ]
