 Our response to those who are evil: vv. 38-42



  • Cheek-turning


  • Cloak-offering


  • Extra-mile trekking


  • Generous-giving

 



  • We are to demonstrate our love by refusing to make our rights the issue in personal relationships.

Our response to our enemies: vv. 43-48



  • Agape-love them


  • Pray for them

 



  • We demonstrate our love by having our foes (and friends) highest interest in mind.

 

The result:

1) We will bear a family-resemblance. v. 45

2) We will be distinguished from the world. vv. 46-47

 

Take Home Idea: Kingdom people are never more like their Father than when they demonstrate God's divine-type of love to another person.
