Biography/Description of Ministry
John and Wendy have been serving inner-city New Orleans since 1991. Originally from Wisconsin and Iowa, John spent time as a History teacher, and Wendy received her Masters in Midwifery.
When first called to ministry they served as youth workers in Minneapolis, MN. It was after taking their youth on a mission trip to New Orleans, that John and Wendy realized God had given them a heart for the inner-city poor. By 1992 the Gerhardts had moved to New Orleans.
Over the past 12 years, the Gerhardts have been actively involved in transforming the Central City of New Orleans through Bible Studies, mentoring of children and adults, and through Castle Rock Community Church established in 1998. John is currently the Pastor of CRCC, and the Executive Director of Urban Impact. Wendy is busy with their four children, and the mentoring of young women in the community. Please pray for their ministry in the Central City of New Orleans.
