- Position title: Student Ministries Pastor
- Job status: Full time
- Accountable to: Senior Pastor
CHURCH MISSION STATEMENT
First Evangelical Free Church’s mission is to help individuals become Christ-centered and Christ-sent together.
Responsibilities
The Student Ministries Pastor will serve as a part of the pastoral staff with the express purpose of developing and maintaining a disciple-making ministry with students and young adults. The Pastor will also support the overall mission of First Free, promoting the vision and a process for multiplying healthy workers and leaders in the body of Christ.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A deep, personal faith in Jesus Christ with an established prayer life, healthy Bible study habits, and a heart for God.
- Demonstrated character and qualities of the Holy Spirit at work in your life.
- A heart, vision, and passion for leading students to follow Jesus.
- The ability to work well with and communicate with volunteers, parents, and other leaders as partners in ministry.
- Demonstrated ability to relate to, communicate with, and teach students.
- Demonstrated organizational, administrative, and leadership skills for managing events, programming, and teams of people.
- Openness to creatively try new things to reach students and young adults with the gospel.
- Proven experience directing student ministries in a leadership role.
- Proficient understanding of the challenges and needs of young people.
- Proficient in the use of technology including social media.
- Four-year degree with ministry training.
- In agreement with the EFCA Statement of Faith, and a willingness to abide by the Constitution, Bylaws, Vision, and Mission of First Evangelical Free Church.
Student Ministry (middle and high school students)
- Develop a healthy, positive student ministry.
- Supervise the Middle School Director and program.
- Oversee and engage in the two weekly student programs (Sunday morning and Wednesday night).
- Develop an atmosphere of belonging and fellowship for each program.
- Supervise the instruction and leadership of every program.
- Communicate with students regularly and work to build positive relationships.
- Develop regular outreach opportunities to students from local schools.
- Plan special events in accordance with the goals and mission of the student ministry (i.e., retreats, camps, mission trips, and summer activities).
- Regularly pray for the student ministry programs.
Volunteer Ministry
- Recruit, train, and equip adult volunteer leaders to minister students.
- Recruit prayer warriors to cover the student ministry in prayer.
Young Adult Ministry
- Develop a program that will minister to young adults.
- Recruit and empower volunteer leadership who will cultivate a community for young adults to grow in their faith.
- Provide oversight of the program and meet with the leadership to support their needs.
General Pastoral Role
- Communicate and share the student ministry accomplishments and future activities with the church.
- Be an active team player in the larger vision of First Free.
- Establish, manage, and be accountable for the Student Ministries budget.
- Other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
Organizational Responsibilities
- Serve as a member of the church staff, working in close cooperation and harmony with other staff members.
- Work within the bounds of the vision of First Free and the policies established by the First Free Church Council.
- Participate in staff meetings and other leadership planning and training events.
- Be a member of the church and participate in ministries and the business meetings of the church.
Accountability
- Directly accountable to the Senior Pastor.
- Meet regularly with the Senior Pastor for planning, prayer, and communication.
- Performance will be evaluated annually.
Training and Development
- Attend conferences and conventions for personal and ministry enrichment, as approved by the supervisor.
